What you need
A Windows PC, Steam access to skate., an internet connection for setup and enough free space for a separate game copy. The launcher’s game download is approximately 14 GB; allow extra room for extraction, updates and custom maps. ReSkate is an independent community project, not an EA product.
1. Get the launcher
Open the latest release in the Dingo-Shenanigans/ReSkate GitHub repository. Read the release notes and download the Windows release archive linked by the maintainers. Use the original release page rather than a reuploaded installer or a “download” button in a video description. Choose ReSkate-<version>.zip for the client, not the server archive or GitHub’s Source code ZIP. The base skate. game is free to play on Steam; add it to your library before setup.
Download & install2. Make a new, empty folder
Create a dedicated folder such as C:\Games\ReSkate. Extract ReSkateLauncher.exe and ReSkate.dll into it. Do not place the current launcher in the Steam skate. installation folder. Keep the extracted files together; do not run the launcher from inside the archive.
3. Let the launcher set up the game
Run ReSkateLauncher.exe, follow the Steam sign-in prompts and let the launcher download its separate copy of the supported game build. Wait for the download to finish before launching. Use only your own Steam account and follow the upstream instructions if Steam access cannot be verified.
4. Start a session
Launch through ReSkateLauncher.exe. The current project supports offline play with Steam closed. Steam multiplayer requires Steam to be running. For a lobby or dedicated server, make sure everyone uses compatible ReSkate releases and protocol versions.
MultiplayerUpdates, Linux and Steam Deck
Use the release notes and launcher guidance when updating. Back up custom content first. Linux support with the current standalone setup is unverified; upstream’s older Proton notes do not establish support for this flow. Steam Deck is untested. Do not assume that a tutorial for an older release still applies.
